Classroom Policy & Procedures WORKPLANS
A weekly workplan will be used by all students to record assignments and explorations. The workplan is a tool to help students manage their time. The teacher or assistant will check work on a daily basis. Some work will remain at school as part of the student’s portfolio. Parents may review this work during parent/teacher conferences. In an effort to keep you better informed I will send home your child’s workplan on Fridays. This provides you a weekly update on the work your child is doing in class. When the child has completed a work, that work is marked off with a colored marker that indicates the day the work was completed.
Weekly checkoff colors are:
FRIDAY FOLDERS are sent home weekly with your child workplan for the week and other items of importance. WORKPLANS should be signed and returned with the FRIDAY folder on Monday. Please review this folder to determine areas you may provide additional help with your child. PROGRESS REPORT
1. A scholarship warning will be sent home anytime a child’s work needs improvement or is unsatisfactory. (This would be equivalent to a D or F.) 2. You will receive a mid-term progress report. 3. You will receive a report card every nine weeks. DISCIPLINE
In the event a child is disruptive to our learning environment, I will inform the child of correct behavior or procedures. If behavior continues I will make adjustments within the classroom. ( Example: Removal from group). If these efforts are unsuccessful, the child may be removed from classroom or other appropriate actions. Please read carefully Classroom Expectations.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are welcomed in the classroom as many of you may hobbies or skills that you would like to share with the class. Please email me to let me know of your time available and your interests. I prefer not to have volunteers in the class until the 4th week of the school year. This provides time for the new students to be comfortable with our ritual and routines.
PARTIES
It is the county policy that we do not have individual birthday celebrations. However, in our class we love to sing to the child and do a birthday walk. Attach is an information sheet (All About Me) for you to complete so I may share highlights of your child’s life. Please return this form with pictures on the day of the celebration.
SHOW & TELL
Every Friday morning from 8:35 to 8:55 students are allowed to share with their classmates items from home. There are a few exceptions. No toys, trading cards, or electronic items (gameboys, ipods) are allowed. If your child has a pet to bring (ie. dog, cat, etc) they must have a parent willing to take it home after show and tell. Keeping large pets in the class all day can be a distraction. If you are unsure if an item or a pet would make a good choice please send a note before allowing your child to bring it to class.
